Restoration done.

It has been a relatively straight forward restoration and the fitting of the rigging has been quite stress free. I am happy with how she has turned out and I am looking forward to sailing Grace . The radio installation also went well and the winch works a treat, so far as I can tell with a test in light wind.
Now I kind of know what I'm doing I'm looking for another project, I have herd from My mother that My cousin has another 6 Metre tucked away in his loft. I'll have to work on him to stand any chance of seeing that one!!

Looking vintage.

The old meets the new.

I've  used part of the old main boom end because it's a really nice piece of antique brass and I want to use as much as the original parts that I have.

Rigging continues.

In my mind the rigging was to take a couple of hours. In reality it's going to take a couple of weeks.

Hatch cover

The hatch cover is made from new solid oak tongue and groove. I skinned it with glass cloth and painted it green to match the hull, the gold stripe brings it all together.

Thin gold band

I wanted a gold line round the waterline, I had bought 3mm gold strip but it was defective and not very gold looking. I forgot I had ordered gold nail art line from ebay, it's only 1mm wide and I didn't hold out much hope for it being any good for the job. I was very surprised when I started to use it, the tape is plastic with a silver foil backing and designed not to stretch when applied and is opaque. It went on really easy and can be coated with enamel lacquer. The best bit is you get 15 meters of the stuff for about £1.99, I am well pleased.

I think it looks perfect against the white and green and the gold catches the light beautifully.

Double stripe line

The stripping tape worked a treat
